National Grid Electricity Distribution, Isles of Scilly - St Mary’s Power Station Cooling Tower Gantry Replacement

 

We employed C2C to assist perform the replacement of an aged and failing steel gantry supporting the three generator cooling towers at St Mary’s Power station in the Isles of Scilly. The project was complex as the cooling towers had to remain operational during the gantry replacement process.

C2C tackled the project in a professional manner, firstly producing detailed designs, after performing on site 3D scans of the existing structure. Once permanent design was approved, temporary work systems to support the cooling towers were produced. This allowed accurate costs to be prepared.

The site works were carried out efficiently - quicker than anticipated working in a confined site and dealing with all logistics & freight delays from the mainland.

The work has been performed to a very high standard – and within budget.

We recommend C2C for any steelwork project – particularly awkward ones!

Coast 2 Coast joined our project for a large extension and indoor swimming pool following the planning approval.

Working from the architect's drawings and the structural engineer's report their role in the project was to fabricate a significant steel structure and then to     construct it on site. From the first site meeting and throughout the process their knowledge and skill as well as their professionalism were strongly in evidence.

They were highly efficient in manufacturing the structure and arranging the galvanisation of the components. They delivered and erected the structure in 2 days - exactly the time period that they had stated. Any issues that arose during the construction stage - as they always do with such projects - were easily overcome

I recently engaged Coast 2 Coast Engineering to assist with the installation of the HV infrastructure on two sites for an independent connection provider (ICP).
